William Colgate Biography
When William Colgate heard the name, almost every country in the world, in every state, in every district, in every village are using the "Colgate" toothpaste he made.
William Colgate's father was Robert Colgate. He was a professional farmer. Robert Colgate was a brilliant man. Robert Colgate's wife was Sarah. They had three children William Colgate was one of their two sons.
The captain of the boat near his hometown preached the gospel and led into salvation, giving some hints. He said: 1) The Lord is the "first" of all. 2) Give your "heart to God." 3)Pray daily for his "will". 4)Give "tithe to god". He read the word of God spoken of at Genesis 28: 20-22.
He resumed business. He followed the instructions given by the sailor. The famous evangelist "Mason" was spiritually strengthened by his sermons. He did not forgot to read the bible and prayer even in pressure. HIs business was developed very well within 6 years of starting business. He became successful business man in NewYork city. He increased his business from "tithes" to 20 percent, then changed it to 30 percent, and the company grew even higher. He gives to God and keeps only 10 percent for himself.
William Colgate worked to establish the "American and Foreign Bible Society". He founded several universities and promoted theological colleges. People call him "Deakon Colgate". He was very honest.
His inventions include toothpaste, shaving creams, soaps, and are popular all over the world. The "Madison university" he founded became "Colgate University" after his death. It sheds a lot of light on the lives of the poor students studying in it.
